BIOGRAPHY

Noah Baetge is a first-year Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist and will sing Remendado in Carmen. A native of Seattle, Washington, Mr. Baetge made his debut in 2005 as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte.

Getting his start with the Seattle Opera Chorus, he was accepted into the Seattle Opera Young Artist program for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 years, singing roles such as Fenton in Falstaff, Don José in Le Tragedie de Carmen, and Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicci. Mr. Baetge also made his Rodolfo debut in La bohème with the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. During this time he also made his Seattle Opera debut in Der Rosenkavalier as the Animal Vendor, and as Parpignol in La bohème.

Other performances included Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. He has also worked with the Seattle Symphony singing Charlie in Kleine Mahagonny by Kurt Weill as well as the Concert Opera of Seattle, Bremerton Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic, and participated in Tacoma Opera’s Next Generation Young Artist program.

In 2009 Mr. Baetge became a Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Counsel competition after winning both the Seattle District and Regional competitions. Mr. Baetge was also a 2nd round semi-finalist in 2007 at the Competizione dell’Opera in Dresden, Germany.
